While January represents new beginnings as we have turned the page to a new year; it's important to also turn our attention to a serious issue—January is Stalking Awareness Month. Stalking is unfortunately a normalized common and deeply unsettling form of abuse that can be challenging to manage, especially when traditional methods fall short. And when culture normalizes it through romanticizing it through various movies, Netflix series, and even music to name a few. It’s important to remember that stalking is not the fault of the survivor. It's a strategy used by abusers to instill fear and regain control. Being informed and prepared is critical in this day and age. We urge anyone facing this issue to take proactive steps by developing a personalized safety plan.
